• We recently purchased a number of customized plasmids on VectorBuilder. They consisted of expression vectors of two or more ORFs. Our experience was satisfactory, efficient and cost-effective.

  The designing stage was facilitated by the VectorBuilder design tool online, in which many of the most commonly used sequences, like fluorescent proteins, selection drug resistance genes, and fusion or cleavage linkers were readily offered to be picked from the ORF lists. Regarding our specific sequences, once pasted into the corresponding window of the design tool, they were immediately matched with the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration (DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank) accession numbers and compared to the databases. Where there were discrepancies, we were asked which transcripts/cDNAs we preferred to use.

  After completing the order, in a matter of three to four weeks, we had in our hands 8 of the 10 plasmids, as offered. For the rest of the plasmids we provided the template for a specific sequence. Before proceeding with the cloning, they sequenced it, detected a mutation and corrected it at a low extra cost upon our approval. A week later these corrected plasmids were delivered as well. During the whole process, VectorBuilder’s European team kept a personalized email dialogue with us, enabling us to follow-up and make decisions or accept suggestions about the plasmids.

  We have satisfactorily tested every plasmid now. We think that our decision to work with VectorBuilder has boosted our research by saving us time, resources and enabling us to concentrate more on our experiments.
